Sonneberg, which is located on the southern slope of the Thuringian Forest in Germany, is famous for its history and tradition of manufacturing toys. This industry is still very much alive today and the German Toy Museum is famous far beyond Sonneberg's city limits.
 
The beautiful countryside around Sonneberg is definitely worth seeing. There are many places to visit for hikers, nature lovers and people who simply want to enjoy a leisurely walk.

Neuhaus is located at the ridge of the Thuringian Forest and is surrounded by beautiful scenery. The traditions of slate front architecture and glass-blowing are still cherished today. The glass balls and figurines made in the neighbouring town of Lauscha have become famous around the world. Because of its altitude (835 m), Neuhaus is an ideal starting point for hikers and winter sport fans, partially thanks to the "Rennsteig," which is probably the most famous mountain hiking trail in Germany.

Both hospitals have lovely gardens where you can enjoy nature. The Sonneberger hospital is situated at the edge of the city centre, while the Neuhäuser hospital is located directly at the edge of the forest and has a spectacular view overlooking the hillside of the Thuringian Forest.
